About
Farmers Market Meets Ice Cream Truck
The Bulk Food Truck is a zero-waste and plastic-free grocery delivery company that dispenses organic and locally-sourced bulk grains, produce, bread, dairy and other healthy whole foods to customers in their preferred reusable containers.
With a commitment to reducing obesity in underserved low-income communities of color, the Bulk Food Truck aims to fix our unjust food system with a fleet of electric trucks, powered by renewable energy, that cruise through neighborhoods announcing their arrival with a jingle.
Customers choose the amount of food they would like so food waste is minimized. Without the overhead of a grocery store or the need for packaging, the cost of groceries will be lower so consumers will be able to get healthy, whole foods for far less and more conveniently with our circular economy approach.
Stop the Truck
See the truck in your neighborhood playing a jingle? Wave at our driver who will pull over so you can purchase groceries. You can also visit us at different community events and farmers markets.
Bring Any Container
Retrieve your clean container from your home. Any clean container, cannister, jar or cloth bag will do. We will weigh your empty container first so we can subtract its weight from the final amount.
Choose the Amount
You choose how much food to receive. We can fill the whole container all the way or part of the way or give you X dollars worth. You pay based on the weight of the food only. We can help you carry it inside.
Our Mission
To transform how food is distributed by:
Eliminating the need for single-use plastics and difficult-to-recycle packaging
Reducing food waste by allowing consumers to purchase quantities that fit their consumption
Making healthy food cost-effective and convenient, especially to underserved communities
Giving food producers a package-free option for distributing their food
Offering food and nutrition education to promote good health in the community
